Welcome to For The Least of These!

 Jesus said :

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.‘ And He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him. And He began to say to them,

‘Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.’ – Luke 4:17-21

The poor, broken and marginalised in our midst are very special to God. He hates it when the defenceless are mistreated, when the fatherless are shunned and the widow is deprived. It moves Gods heart with compassion when he looks down on the injustice suffered by the disabled, the old, the mentally ill and the socially excluded. At the start of Jesus’ ministry ‘preaching the good news to the poor’ was the first thing he mentioned. Often in church it’s the last thing we do. The church should be a place of solace of safety and of succour for these people but very often it has become the place where they experience even more exclusion, rejection and torment. It should not be so. ’ For the Least of These’ is here to address these issues and also to attempt to ‘open the eyes’ of Christians hearts to the plight of those on the edge of society. As Christians if one part of the body hurts all the body hurts. Well one part is hurting while the other part enjoys the ‘good life’ with its eyes tightly shut……
It is the aim of this blog to encourage those already working with the poor and marginalised in a Christian context. Please feel free to email me (ffts@hotmail.co.uk ) with any ideas you have for this site or simply to share your story of your work in this area. I would love to have as many links and stories as I can on the site.

Let’s encourage one another in this important life changing ministry.

This site exists also to raise awareness of this issue among believers and hopefully by the grace of God change hearts and minds to have compassion on the needy and take a step of faith in reaching out to them……..
